Solek, the Czech photovoltaic group, has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with E.ON Romania, a leading player on the Romanian energy market. The total value of the transaction is estimated at approximately 500 million crowns.
The subject of the contract is the purchase of electricity produced from renewable sources from four solar parks owned and operated by the Solek Group in Romania. The contract is concluded for the next ten-year period. The solar parks have a total installed capacity of 8.5 MW and were built in 2012–2013. They are equipped with modern technology and located in the south of Romania. This is the area with the greatest sunlight and it also has easy access from Bucharest.
“Romania has sufficient solar exposure for photovoltaics and, in the future, a chance for a new efficient support system,” said Zdeněk Sobotka, the founder and majority owner of the Solek Group, adding: “So for now, we are staying on the market and are also considering other investments.”
The Solek Group has implemented eleven projects in Romania since 2012, of which it operates the four already mentioned and has sold seven to investors.
